Our specialist solicitors in Newport and Pontypool can help you create a Lasting Power of Attorney for Property and Affairs so that if you become mentally of physically incapable of dealing with those matters there is a person that you trust able to do so for you.
If you don’t have a Power of Attorney then an application needs to be made to the Court of Protection to appoint a deputy. That application is more complicated and costly than making a Lasting Power of Attorney.
We offer a fixed fee service where one of our lawyers will meet with you to discuss your needs, complete the application and register the Power of Attorney at £350 plus VAT. There is also a registration fee payable to the Office of the Public Guardian which is currently £82.00.
If you would like a free initial consultation to discuss whether you should make a Lasting Power of Attorney please contact Martin Doe or fill in the following form Contact Us.
In an addition to a Lasting Power of Attorney it is worth considering whether you wish to make a Living Will. This document allows you to give instructions on the medical care you wish to receive in the event that you become too ill to explain your wishes. A Living Will can ease the burden on other family members. There is also a mechanism where you can appoint in advance a person that you want to be consulted by any doctor regarding your treatment if you are not in a condition to be consulted yourself.
We can offer a reduced fee for a Living Will if you are also making a Lasting Power of Attorney.
If you would like to arrange a free consultation with one of our lawyers to discuss this then please contact either Jason Pearce or Jean Massih or fill in the following form Contact us.
